After dreaming of finding a cattle farm with a beautiful heritage home and gorgeous established gardens to build our homestead, last year we instead ended up buying one with a modern house plonked onto a very inhospitable rocky hill with no garden to speak of. The long-term goal of near self-sufficiency for food production would have to wait – first we set about creating a garden and making a large, modern build feel homey. And boy oh boy, did I underestimate this part!
Follow along with us as we share the successes and (seemingly unending) failures of creating a homestead from scratch, with some homemaking and farming life along the way. Oh, and we are having our first baby and planning a farm wedding – 2024 is going to be a big one for us and hopefully will be an informative and entertaining one for you to follow along with.
I hope to one day have a beautiful photo of a thriving garden to put here but for now will leave you with the blog’s namesake, Cinnamon, and her sunflowers. You’re welcome.
